About the Presenters

Catherine Menick

I came to Propel from the public education sector and have a background in nonprofit operations. I am excited to work on the Capital Access Team at Propel where my commitment to support individuals and organizations endeavoring to build a better world, and my professional interests of using money and finance to advance justice can be applied with an intersectional lens. In my personal life, I enjoy creative pursuits like embroidery, machine sewing, knitting, and playing the viola. I also love biking, camping, and hiking. Completing my first backpacking trip in Summer 2021 was a life highlight! You can also find me early in the morning chatting up the neighborhood elders at the local coffee shop, or just hanging at home with my two cats.

Portrait of Nevison

Sara Nevison

I began my career managing programs in nonprofits committed to advancing justice through education and workforce development. I noticed that nonprofit finances and capital had a powerful impact on programming, client services, and ultimately justice. However despite their power, clear financial data seemed elusive. As a fervent learner, I jumped into accounting where I found a natural fit for my skills and interests. As Propel Nonprofits’ Accountant, I take pride in providing accurate, timely, and clear financial information to empower nonprofit leaders to do good and do well at the same time. Outside of work you will find me hiking with my beloved basset hound, trying new recipes to nourish my family and friends, or reading novels.
