Fundamentals of Budgeting

Workshop

  • March 5, 2024

Budgets are the foundation of nonprofit finance and are vital to your organization’s strategic planning and management.  Budgeting can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be.  Learn to use budgeting as another tool for you to tell the story of your organization’s plans, priorities, and aspirations.  Propel’s 10-step budgeting process will also highlight ways to engage your board as well as staff across the organization.

This workshop will have closed captioning available through the online service Otter.ai.com.

Sarah Jackson

I’ve been working with or for nonprofit organizations in Minnesota for almost 20 years in various roles including as executive director of the Minnesota News Council and program director for the Minnesota Newspaper Association. Knowledge of nonprofit finance once eluded me, but now I love helping nonprofit leaders decipher and understand the often exclusionary language of finance. As a lender, trainer and partner, I work closely with nonprofits in the upper Midwest supporting their important mission-driven work. I earned degrees in Journalism and Philosophy from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. I love books, newspapers, travel, cooking, sports, and Lake Superior. Outside of work you will find me hiking with my beloved basset hound, trying new recipes to nourish my family and friends, or reading novels.
