About the Presenters

Sara Wessling

For almost two decades, I’ve had the opportunity to work with nonprofit organizations across the state of Minnesota delivering training, technical assistance and consulting support in areas ranging from volunteer engagement to financial leadership. Supporting the work of nonprofit organizations and their leaders is my passion. My work with nonprofits started at a young age as a volunteer in my rural Iowa home town. In my career I have worked in roles developing programs at a national child care association, a state support organization for Habitat for Humanity, and an association of leaders of volunteers. I have a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management from Hamline University and an undergraduate degree in psychology and sociology. In 2022, I participated in the Shannon Leadership Institute cohort. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, trying new restaurants, reading fantasy novels, and exploring Minnesota’s natural wonders and roadside attractions.

In my current role as Training Program Associate, I apply a broad range of skills I’ve developed from my time as an educator and equity leader. My focus is creating an equitable and welcoming environment for nonprofit leaders to gain the knowledge they need to fulfill their mission. Before joining Propel in June 2022, I was a teacher in the Twin Cities. I received my MA in Teaching from Concordia University, St. Paul. In my free time I enjoy exploring trails around Minnesota’s many state parks and lakes.
